I had previously purchased the TV backlight strips from Govee, and wanted to find lighting for my shelves within the Govee ecosystem. Traditional light strips wouldn’t really work unless I spliced them, which I wanted to avoid. Enter these light bars. I bought 2 sets of them, and thanks to the (quite strong) mounting options, was able to mount and angle these lights downwards to create a really cool effect over my displays.
I wasn’t sure how well it was going to work, but the end results speak for themselves. It looks terrific when used in this role. The cables are very long and manageable too, I was able to run them down the support beams of the shelves with some mounting clips without issue.
The only negative comes down to the app itself. It’s a bit overwhelming and confusing to use at first, but once you get the basic functions figured out, there’s little issue. Still, I feel the user experience could be improved on the app. For example, I had to go in and create my own shortcut function to turn on all my lights at once, then make a separate one to turn them all off at once, as opposed to there being a single master on/off button in the app. It’s small things that can make the app tedious to work with.
Regardless, I feel that overall Govee continuous to knock it out of the park. The lights are bright, customizable, and add a ton of ambience to the room. I hope Govee continues to expand on their different room lighting options and keep the level of quality they are putting out now.

I LOVE these light bars! The customization options are great and the quality is definitely there. I messed up placement and had to remove the adhesive. Upon second application the light bars did not stay up. I googled how to reuse the adhesive and it said to apply heat. So, what did I do? Use my blow dryer of course! 😂 The heat from my blow dryer made it stickier so that seemed to do the trick for me.
Assembly was super easy and frustration free. I bought these on Prime day for $39 and it seems well worth the money. I would not pay for these at full price.

Don’t have to worry about charging them, since they plug in! All my other backdrop lights would die whereas these I can rely on and trust!
I love that you can control it easily with an app from your phone but also it has a built in mini remote.

The customization is incredible!!!

I’m glad I spent the extra $$ to get these instead of some budget POS. They can go very bright, have a ton of different modes and customization, including modes that respond to audio in different ways, making them great for music, movies and gaming. They really make you feel more immersed in whatever media you’ve paired them with.. Construction feels durable, used them daily for over a year now and haven’t encountered any issues. Super simple to set up, and the app they work with is good.

Govee has come a long way since their first smart bulbs. 10 years ago I would recommend Philips but today it’s all Govee, the king of smart bulbs. With every new product comes improvements over its predecessor. These light-bars are incredible and the accessories show that they thought very carefully how people may use their product.
First: Setting it up is straight forward. Plug the dongle into the wall and the lights into the dongle. The dongle itself is well designed because it comes with a 3M sticker where you can place it under or on the side of your desk.
Second: It seamlessly connects with your 2.4ghz wifi. Make sure you use your “G” wifi connection like most smart appliances! It took a couple of seconds to connect from the govee app. If you use it all the time, you’ll know what i mean when i say it’s easy. Do make sure to enable GPS for certain versions of android though for the initial setup (it’s part of android’s limitations on certain OS distros).
Third: The brightness is amazing, like if you stared at it for too long at full brightness, I’m sure you’ll get eye damage. These lights aren’t meant for you to stare directly at it at full brightness but if you do put it at full brightness you are likely going to be hiding it behind a speaker bar, under your desk etc…
Fourth: You can pick how you want to use your light bars. Usually these things come with only vertical holders or if they come with the horizontal ones, they don’t have 3M tape or the ability to bend forwards or backwards like this one does. This is really smartly designed. Well done!
Final comments: If you’re thinking of a light bar, this is it. I’ve bought several different kinds and they are all junk compared to this. The RGBIC light bars set a new standard and there is just no competition. I had to buy another pair, I liked them that much.

Love these light bars. They really add a neat effect to my viewing space. Easy to set up on the app too. In my photo, you can see the lighting wraps around my entire wall. This is a bonus that I didn’t expect. The only slight negative is the cord length. I went to the max with my placement. If I had to go any further apart I could not have made it work.
