I have tried 3 machines: Delonghi Elatta, Phillips 5500 and now the Delonghi Rivelia. The Rivelia is the clear winner for me, with the exchangeable bean hoppers and the addition of the Lattecreama Cool Upgrade. But more importantly it is much easier to use and to clean, when compared to the other 2 machines. It gets a 5 star rating mostly because it produces the best coffee taste of the 3 units. I think this one is a keeper!

I’m obsessed with this coffee machine. We did a built in coffee machine in my last house that cost 3x what this machine cost, and I like this one 3x more. It brews a great com. It’s super easy to operate and to clean. You can switch out the beans anytime. I don’t know what else you could want from an automatic coffee machine. I’m excited to get the cold foam attachment when it’s restocked! If you’re like me and you’ve done a ton of research and are still trying to decide, just take the plunge and get this machine. You won’t be disappointed.

I upgraded from a De’Longhi Magnifica Start with the LatteCrema system which I thoroughly enjoyed. The new Rivelia is a VERY nice upgrade.

It looks much more modern than our old Magnifica Start and it pairs up really nicely with our Nespresso Gran Lattissima machine (we’re big coffee drinkers that love variety). Both the Rivelia and the Lattissma have that flag minimalist appearance. The LatteCrema unit on the Rivelia shares a very similar design to that on the Lattissima as well with the knob that can choose your foam thickness as well as activate the clean rinse. The thing I really miss from my Magnifica Start are the graduation lines on the LatteCrema container. I always knew exactly where to fill it with milk to make one latter and one cappuccino. The new container has no such markings so it’s a complete guess at first. I ended up marking the container myself to make things easier.

The digital display on the Rivelia is really well implemented. It’s very sharp, bright, and colourful — a very nice-looking display. It’s touch responsiveness is surprisingly good but it’s not just a digital replacement for physical buttons. The touchscreen offers a ton of options and information before, during and after making your coffee. What I appreciate most is that all those options that were previously buried behind combinations of lights and not-so-intuitive icons, are now presented to you in clear descriptive detail. You can VERY easily tweak so many aspects of your coffee.

The first latte I brewed was larger than expected compared to the ones we made on the Magnifica Start. Pressed the options button under the Latte icon and right there I was able to select and adjust my brew size with a slider. Dropped it down one size and it was now the same as it was on my Magnifica Start. It also remembered the setting so I no longer have to adjust it each time. Even better, you can setup multiple users and each user can have their own preferences. You can even have preferences based on morning and night. The customization options here are great.

The only possible negative thing is that the screen faces upwards on the top of the machine and can’t be adjusted. Depending on your counter top and whether you have cabinets or a valence aboce, your space might be restricted. It worked out better than expected for us but it would have been nice if the screen could tilt up a bit.

The Rivelia did away with the built-in bean tray of the Magnifica Start and now uses bean hoppers. These are easily inserted and removed with a simple quarter turn to lock/unlock the hopper from the machine. These hoppers make it much easier to fill the machine when your machine is under a cabinet. I would always spill beans trying to feed them to the back of my Magnifica Start. You also get two hoppers so you can easily keep two different types of beans ready to go.

As far as coffees go, this machine has a ton of options. We typically make lattes and cappuccinos and I think they’re great from this machine as they were with our Magnifica Start. While the Rivelia offers a ton of convenience options over the Magnifica Start, I can say that they both produce very similar coffees/espressos. They even sound almost identical when operating. I really didn’t notice any difference (except for size/quantity) from the espressos I was making on the Magnifica Start. I think they’re great for super automatics. The LatteCrema does a surprisingly good job warming and foaming fridge-cold milk. I find this one overall easier to take apart and clean than the one that came with the Magnifica Start as well.

If I had any complaint about this machine, it’s one that has apparently lingered since the Magnifica Start — and that is that the machine tends to complain about emptying the bin or the water tray too often and prematurely.

Overall, this is the best super automatic I’ve had the pleasure of using so far. Working with the machine is a pleasure and, most importantly, it makes good drinks as well. There should be enough options here to tweak it to your liking if it isn’t good for you out of the box.

The coffee flavor / quality is exceptional! I thought I was crazy spending so much on a coffee maker. I figured I would only keep it if the flavor was the best I ever tasted. Well it is an amazing flavor, best I’ve had. The instructions may seem intimidating but it is actually so easy and quick to make the perfect coffee or milk coffee ever. The frothing gadget is great too. So far I’m glad and excited about having purchased this machine. No regrets at this point! I had about nine coffee machines I had purchased over the years and many different brands but this one replaces all of them and feels like I will never need another machine. There are so many options for making different types of drinks. Every single one I have chosen the taste has been amazing. Honestly, I think the flavor and quality is better than the high priced coffee chains.

Im glad we stop our choice on this machine. Very easy to make different style of coffee, very elegant looking, easy to maintain, save a lots of money comparing to other nespresso machine with Capsules.

The De’Longhi Rivelia Automatic Espresso machine is a coffee lovers dream.

I’ll be 100% honest that I have tried other brands of espresso machines like this but I always return to the De’Longhi brand as they never disappoint. That’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement on them and that is the case with the Rivelia.

Let me get the things out of the way that I would improve on with this machine and I will say, these things in no way take away from the results of your coffee it produces. I think the water reservoir on the side of the machine could have been larger and I think there was probably room for that. It’s not a reason to avoid this machine but it does mean you will need to refill it a bit more often than some other automatic espresso machines.

The other thing I find annoying is the display screen. The screen itself is fantastic and responds well to touch. The software and preset choices are amazing. The issue I have is that the screen sits flat on top so if you’re shorter or if the machine is pushed in closer to the wall, I have to strain to see the top of the machine and the display. I wish (and maybe the next version will address this) they had made the display so it could flip up even a few inches when needed and then return it to the seated position when done. Again, this isn’t a deal breaker but just an unfortunate bother.

This machine produces amazing coffee and espresso results every time. The dual hoppers make switching from regular beans to decaf beans fast and simple to do. Those are my choices but you can use whatever beans you prefer in them.

There are plenty of options here to set up your bean extraction intensity, how large or small you want the drink to be as well. I also like the fact you can make profiles so you or your spouse can have their own preset go to coffee choice quick and easy to get started.

When it comes to cleaning the coffee maker, it couldn’t be easier. Just remove the try, empty the puck container, wipe things down and return to be ready to go next time. A more deeper cleaning is also possible and also simple to do.

The milk frothing attachment works remarkably well. Being able to remove the milk unit to store in the fridge between uses minimizes the chances of wasting milk. The frothing process is also automatic so no worrying about that. As always, I do recommend taking the time read the manual. It is also handy to find plenty of videos online for extra guidance.

There are other features as well but you can discover those once you have this unboxed and ready to go.

Overall, the Rivelia is by far the best automatic espresso machine in this price range that I have used. It looks fantastic on the counter and I’ll be honest, my family members envy me having it but love to visit to enjoy the benefits of it.

I searched for weeks to find an expresso machine that would be easy to set up, use, and clean. This one does all three! You essentially plug it in and follow the directions for great variations of coffees from the touch screen.
It can hold several user profiles, has a carafe for milk that is heated, a reservoir for water, and cleans itself after each use of milk and expresso.
When it auto shuts off or you power it down, the cleaning process runs and it helps to keep a cup under the spouts for easy clean up.
There is an upgrade that you can purchase to use cold milk and unlock cold coffees. I hope to purchase it when it becomes available.

I figured I’d write a review for this since I actually paid for mine and when I was buying and I couldn’t find anybody that was writing reviews that had actually paid. this is a great coffee maker has a lot of options. Give the ability to switch bean hoppers so you can do decaf and regular in the same machine. It’s got a ton of options on the LCD screen. The LCD screen is mounted on the top face, so it doesn’t get a lot of glare from ambient light it’s nice and bright. It’s adjustable and easy to use.

The De’Longhi Rivelia Automatic Espresso Machine with Grinder & Milk Frother looks amazing and feels very well made. The design is very compact to that it fits in my counter in just slightly more space than my K-cup brewer used. The machine comes apart easily so it’s easy to keep clean, the machine will rinse out the nozzles when it shuts down and also prompts to rinse the frother nozzle after use. I cannot state enough how much I appreciate that this is not a connected/smart device that needs internet access and logins and there is no AI involved, which reduces complexity and means no connected phone app is required. The De’Longhi brand has many accessories and replacement parts/filters available on Amazon.

You can have different profiles for up to 4 people. These profiles can be set to different colours, and there is a quick switch button on the top so you can easily change profiles without needing to run through menus. Once the profile is active it’s really easy to customize the size and strength of each of the different drink options and save them. The machine keeps track of your usage and will rearrange the options to show you items you usually make at any specific time, which works fairly well. The menus and touch screen are very well thought out and are easy to follow, there are lots of help screens available to walk you through cleaning and more.

The frother is easy to add/remove when you want to use it. The frother can be put in the fridge between uses but I recommend putting it on a paper towel or something to catch the occasional drip. The frother has measuring lines on it that makes it look like it’ll make 6 or more servings, but in reality a drink with milk takes about half of the container of milk depending on what you choose. We’ve been using it with a soy based creamer and it works without any issues, or worked well with milk too. There is also a hot water nozzle that uses the same connection as the frother, the nozzle hides in a compartment on the top (which doubles as a vent) but it can be difficult to get out because there is nothing to grab on to. One issue we had with the frother is that it does not know if it is empty, so it will keep trying to dispense milk and just blow hot air until the machine is turned off.

The two bean hoppers is a nice touch, we keep one with caffeinated and one with decaf. When you change the hoppers there will be beans left in the grinder, the machine will prompt you to choose if you want to grind and clear the beans out when the hopper is unlocked. There is a long brush accessory for cleaning out beans too, but the machine has nowhere to store it so I’ll probably lose mine.

I was used to making single cup coffees using K-cups so the switch to freshly ground coffee is like night and day. I find this machine very easy to use and it has been able to keep up with my wife and I making 10+ cups a day. Because we use it so much we found that the water reservoir would be better if it held a little more. I am not a coffee connoisseur but I really like the coffee that this machine makes, and the frothed drinks are delicious. I often put some chocolate sauce in the cup on latte mode to make something like a mocha latte.

I am very happy with this product. It is technically excellent and makes great coffee, but I feel that it’s quite expensive compared to similar machines.

    Pros:

    – Easy to follow guided menu
    – Dual bean hoppers with seamless switching
    – Guided profiling via “Bean Adapt”” mode
    – Good quality burr grinder
    – Hands‑free milk frothing
    – Compact design
    – Personalized user profiles for 4 users, easy one button switching
    – 18 preset drinks
    – Easy to keep clean
    – Whole beans are less expensive that coffee pods with no plastic waste
    – No AI or internet required

    Cons:

    – High price tag
    – Milk parts need frequent cleaning
    – Needs a larger water tank
    – Frother does not detect when it’s empty

I love my coffee and work where the beans are roasted for Canada’s most famous coffee shop. I have access to super fresh coffee grounds and beans, and I wanted to take advantage of this by getting a decent coffee and espresso machine. I also have several different machines right now, and counter space is getting limited, so I wanted an all-in-one machine that does everything well. This machine by De’Longhi seemed to have everything you would ever want in a machine, so I ordered it.

The machine arrived very well packaged in a giftable box.

As I set this machine up, which takes very little time, I was impressed with the quality of the machine. This definitely feels like the Rolls-Royce of coffee machines.

My first concern was since this does so many things would it be difficult to learn to use. Well, it is super easy to use and everything seems very intuitive.

There is a large LCD screen that you use to select the type of brew you want and the options. This touch screen uses animations to help you through the selection of the options, and it also shows you the progress. You can set up 4 different profiles so that each member of your household can have their favorite brews saved.

The coffee machine has 2 different hoppers for coffee beans, so you can easily swap between different flavours.

There is a built-in milk frother that works very well.

Even though this machine is loaded with customizations, you do not have to use them. This can be as simple as putting beans and water in the machine and pressing a button. This makes it perfect for those people who just want a quick, great-tasting coffee with no thinking or hassles.

I cannot go over all of the features that this machine has in this review. The user manual alone is huge. This machine has just about every option you would ever want to make a very simple cup of coffee from beans or grounds, to a very customized coffee.

    So, how about the taste?

This machine rivals your best coffee boutiques and, in my opinion, makes a better-tasting coffee, espresso, or latte. Of course, you must use high-quality beans, as you cannot expect any machine to make great coffee from bad beans. If you use a decent coffee bean, then you are truly in for a treat with this machine.

Clean-up is super easy, as there is a rinse mode that runs hot water through the machine. You can also do a more thorough cleaning by taking the machine apart and manually cleaning it. This is very easy to do.

If I were going to be picky and find one negative with this machine, then it would be the size of the water tank. I would have preferred to have this larger but it is certainly not a major issue.

The machine does take up a fairly large piece of real estate on your counter. It is about 17 inches wide and 10 inches deep. It is also very tall at almost 15 inches tall and since the touch screen is on the top, if you put this on a high counter then a shorter person may have a problem seeing the screen.

It is very hard for me to find anything else negative to say since it seems De’Longhi has truly designed the near-perfect machine.

If you are a coffee aficionado or just like a great cup of coffee this is the ultimate machine. Yes, it is at a very premium price but you are getting possibly the best machine on the market.

I just upgraded from a five year old De’Longhi Magnifica S espresso machine. I thought it was broken, which was what started me looking, but after I’d bought the Rivelia, I was able to get it working again.

It made no difference. Once I tried the Rivelia, I was done with my old machine. I had two of them (one for home, one for work) and replaced both of them with Rivelias. It was a no brainer. The Rivelia is effectively the same machine, but much, much better. Here’s why:

    1) The taste is just better. The foam from the Magnifica always tasted strange, and I found I’d just stopped making lattes, even though that was primarily why I’d bought the machine in the first place. Americanos are also wonderful, and now I’m torn between what drink I’m going to have next, and I haven’t even explored most of the options!

    2) I can finally get enough volume to fill up my cup with the intensity I want. The old machine was geared around traditional espresso sizes, and I’m more of a grande guy.

    3) The new touch screen has profiles so I can customize the drinks how I like, which is fantastic for our office and the heathens who don’t know how to make coffee.

    4) It no longer prompts me to empty the grounds when it’s not really filled up. The one caveat I do have is that when it tells me to empty the grounds, the grounds container sometimes is locked in, and I still haven’t quite figured out how to unlock it reliably (maybe the little red plastic piece)? I always get it open, but it’s a bit irritating to initially pull it and have it stuck.

    5) It’s quieter than the old unit, and turns on and heats up faster.

    6) I love the ability to switch between beans, which is sweet for decaf and non-decaf, and the aforementioned heathens with their bad coffee choices.

    7) The design of the machine is attractive, and it feels elegant to use.

This was a huge upgrade over my older De’Longhi in every way and I couldn’t (other than the locked grounds tray) be happier.
