My wife tends to burn her chicken when frying it, so I bought her this thermometer because it was easy to hold and use, it ells you the temperatures to check for with all meats cooked and is accurate. She has also learned not to burn her chicken and cooks it appropriately now. Don’t know about waterproof as we take a wet rag to it to clean it, my wife runs the prong under hot water to get a reading and prevent cross contamination. Highly recommend.
