Wow! This is one of those products that I had no idea I needed. I simply request requested to review this because I thought it was kind of cool of a concept.
Every single time I cook steak on my stove top my house spills up with smoke. I have to run around and try to beat the fire alarm by opening up all the doors all the windows. I have a vent on my microwave but it just does not work. I have traumatized myself by setting off the fire alarm at two in the morning cause I wanted a steak
I’m not kidding when I say the entire house fills up with smoke.
So I made two steaks today and I put this portable range thing right next to it and I am not kidding not one trace of smoke was in my house. I did not turn on the the microwave fan nor did I open any doors or windows. And I’m not kidding not one trace of smoke
It’s so good I feel like it would be awesome as just an air filter just clearing out the crap that’s in the air but I suppose that would be the wrong use of this.
It comes with a little Velcro stickies that you have to put on the inside of the “oil catcher”. (The orange screen in the pictures).
The reason for that is to hold the disposable filter on the backside. It stays in place via the Velcro
The instructions will tell you that you’re supposed to put the Velcro on the orange rim… But that is absolutely wrong for reasons. Number one as you can see in the picture the disposable filter is only as big as the screen. It does not cover any part of the orange so if you put the Velcro on the orange it won’t even hold it. Number two there’s magnets inside the orange that hold the screen in the appliance. If you cover the orange now the magnets won’t stick and therefore the oil catcher screen will not stay in place
A nice little added benefit is this also has a light on it. So it can work like a little flashlight and you can see your food better… if you get a craving for a steak at 2 AM you don’t even have to turn on your kitchen light.
This is one of those products that you don’t think you need… But I am telling you I think it might quickly become one of those things that I can’t live without

This portable range hood is an absolutely perfect addition to our RV. It has a sleek design that looks great on the countertop and its compact size is ideal for a small space. I was very impressed with the build quality from the start. It has a noticeable sturdiness and feels well-made and durable.
The functionality is where this device really shines. It does a fantastic job with odor removal which is a huge benefit when cooking in a confined area. The noise level is also surprisingly low. Even on the higher settings it’s not disruptive. It has made cooking indoors so much more pleasant by effectively managing steam and smells.

We don’t have an overhead exhaust fan because our cooktop is in an island where the ceiling is miles away. I was tired of cooking smells and grease floating through the whole house. This helps with those issue a lot. The reason for taking away one star is that the device won’t let you choose the highest exhaust setting and leave it there. It reverts back to the medium setting and you have to press the button for the high setting every 30 seconds. And the device is only effective if it’s as close as possible to your pan or electric skillet. If you have two pans going that are both spewing grease/smells/smoke, you would want one of these for each pan.

We bought a home with a kitchen that’s not vented to the outside. Whole we’re saving to hire someone to cut a hole in our house and install a vent, we needed a temporary solution. I did a lot of research before settling on this product. It costs less than other brands but it removes odors: fish, smash burgers, onions. It’s not as noisy as I expected, in fact it’s much quieter than our useless microwave vent. I imagine this would be very useful in a camper, too.
