As a highly sensitive person to fragrances and chemical ingredients, I’m delighted to have found this self tanner. So important: I can use it with my own body lotion. I started with less but 8 drops in the amount they recommend of body lotion gives me sun kissed look. Exactly what I was looking for. I am fair skinned. People who want a darker tan may want to try medium or dark. It has a slight fragrance that dissipates after a few hours. Very easy to apply, no lines or smudges.

This is a cosmetic solution and not a medical solution for vitiligo.
That said, I found that careful application does work very well.
It will need to be reapplied of course depending on your surrounding skin tone and fading, but it will help to cover the white areas, rather than applying makeup each time you go out.
Here is what I found helpful for some vitiligo on my hands.
For a trial application, I first made a small amount of lotion Less than 1 Tbsp in a paper cup with a few drops of tanner starting with lighter concentration.
Mix very well with q-tip.
With a fresh q tip or you could use an artist or small make up brush, gently paint a LIGHT application on the white areas.
You don’t want the lotion to go into the creases of your fingers which will look artificial so keep it at the surface of the skin. 🙂 Also, do this in very good light so you can see the exact delineation of darker skin to lighter.
Let it develop and see if you need several applications to match you skin tone.
This may take a couple of days to accomplish the perfect result. If you apply too concentrated a solution or too heavily applied, it will look blotchy and color will be off.
Next step.
For ease of use and consistency of application, I found that mixing a Tbsp in a very tiny glass bottle with more tanning drops and applying it for a couple of days is achieving a perfect match. I don’t want it darker than my skin around it, just to blend in and I am seeing this accomplished.
Be patient with the process of checking how it developed in your skin. It’s time consuming, but worth it.
I think that vitiligo is challenging as it is a noticeable condition, but not contagious. When out in public, I don’t want people to be concerned wondering what is this skin condition-scars or something contagious-so I have covered it.
I hope this will be a more long lasting solution than applying foundation.
There is a beautiful model out there who has vitiligo and doesn’t cover it up and that is a positive step for public awareness. 🙂
